Race for Recipients Log In

About

Organ Donation Week is one of the key points in the calendar year when the transplant and members of the public join together to talk about, celebrate, and highlight the significance of organ donation. It's a key opportunity to educate and build knowledge, point people to information and remind people of the need to add their name to the Organ Donor Register and talk to their family.

The #Race4Recipients challenge has been designed to incorporate all of the above whilst getting people active and we are really excited to confirm that following the huge success last year, #RaceforRecipients 2023 is a National event and it is open to everyone, everywhere to join!

We challenge you to celebrate Organ Donation - the gift of life, and support this year's challenges:

Personal / Team Targets:

  1. Travel 9km, a distance that represents the 9 lives one organ donor can save
  2. Travel 40km to represent the 40 children who donated their organs last year
  3. Travel 200km to represent the number of children who are currently waiting for a life saving transplant
  4. Travel 300km a distance that represents the number of people currently waiting for a life saving heart or lung transplant
  5. Travel 600km to raise awareness of the 600 people waiting for a liver transplant
  6. Travel 900km, a number that represents the number of living kidney donors
  7. Travel 1400km to honour the number of organ donors last year
  8. Travel 3700km to celebrate the number of organs by the 1400 donors
  9. Travel 5500km, a distance that represents the number of people waiting for a kidney transplant
  10. Travel 7000km to represent the number of people currently waiting for a life saving transplant

Regional Target:

  1. Travel 50,000km, a distance that represents the number of people living in the UK today with an organ transplant

The challenge will be active from 06:00 on Saturday the 16th September, until midnight on Sunday the 24th September.

The distance can be accumulated through any kind of activity which involves you getting active (above normal day to day activity) and travelling a measurable distance.

Your level of fitness is not important - every kilometre counts! They can be generated by activities as simple as walking the dog, doing the school run or walking to the shops. No matter how you achieve your personal distance make sure you log it so we can achieve our goal and, most importantly, share your involvement across all social media platforms and encourage everyone to be involved, and to add their name to the Organ Donor Register!

You don't need a team to join and the challenge is free to enter!

Join the Race!

Following this link will sign you up and allow you to affiliate yourself to a team - for example, you may be an individual who lives in Yorkshire and supports donation and transplantation so you could join the 'Yorkshire' region then the 'Community Team - Yorkshire' you will then join a national community of other supporters and all the kilometres you log will go towards that wider team!

Thank you so much for your support. If you have any questions you can contact the team at team@raceforrecipients.com. More information is available in our help section
